Chris Stessing
VP of Engineering and Programs
Chris Stessing serves as the Vice President of Engineering and Programs at Karman Space & Defense. In this role, he oversees key programs while driving engineering and program excellence across the organization. With a commitment to innovation and efficiency, Chris plays a vital role in advancing Karman’s technical capabilities and program success.
Prior to joining Karman, Mr. Stessing worked as a Satellite Systems Engineer and Program Manager supporting satellite communications for several government customers. He has over 10+ years of leadership experience in the aerospace industry, including engineering, product development, program management, and operations. Mr. Stessing progressed professionally through a series of key leadership roles at Karman including Program Manager, IPT Lead, Program Director of the Missiles & Space Engineering Division, and Business Development Director of the Space & Launch Market.
Throughout his career, he has worked on and managed several technologies such as energetics and ordnance, stage separation systems, aerodynamic fairing and deployment systems, satellite R/F communications, and electromechanical safe and arm devices.
Mr. Stessing obtained his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia. Additionally, he has several industry certifications including LSS and Safe Agile and holds a patent pending for a Low Shock Separation System for missile and space applications.
