To The Moon and Beyond

[South El Monte, CA. November 16, 2022] – Karman Space & Defense (“Karman”), a leading manufacturer of flight structures and assemblies for mission-critical systems in space and defense, is proud to be a key supplier for NASA’s Artemis missions. Since the program’s inception, Karman has successfully manufactured and delivered thousands of critical components for the Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System (“SLS”) rocket.

Karman manufactures significant hardware on the pressure vessel, the underlying structure of Orion’s crew module that provides the air-tight, habitable space for crew members. Karman is responsible for the window panels, launch abort system hatch, forward bay cover, multi-stage adapter, large diameter rings and more.

Furthermore, on the SLS rocket Karman produces metallic structures including, but not limited to, precision machined large diameter isogrid/orthogrid panels, engine section, liquid oxygen tank, liquid hydrogen tank, launch vehicle stage adapter, raceway covers, forward and AFT skirts.

“Our company has been involved in the Orion program from day one, and we are truly honored to see what it has evolved into. We are really excited to be part of this critical and historic program that will take humans back to the Moon.” said Mike Riley, Regional President of South El Monte and Corona, California.
